Visual artist Aida Tejada, a native of the Dominican Republic, holds an MFA from The Massachusetts College of Art and Design, complemented by degrees in Psychology and Communication.
Her multicultural background significantly informs her interdisciplinary artistic practice, where she explores materiality as narrative content to address themes of identity, mending memory and otherness.
Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions and five solo shows. She has received several awards, including first place from the International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA) in 2017 and Best in Show in 2019. Tejada has participated in two artist residencies—the Deering Estate in 2014 and the Studios in the Mile in 2020—and her work has been selected for The Florida Biennial 2022 and the 2023 Art in Miami (A.I.M.) Biennial.
Tejada currently lives in Miami, Florida, where she continues her studio practice and works as an independent teaching artist.
